Singing Diva

Alexa has been spending A LOT of time walking around the house singing lately. She carries her microphone with her constantly and will just burst out into song at any given moment. I asked her if she was going to be a singer when she grows up and she said "NO and I am going to be a Cinderella Singer!" Well of course, how could I forget the Cinderella part!?!

Best Friends

So Alexa has been in this "Best Buds" thing lately. We're not quite sure where she got it but the other day her Best Bud went from Daddy to Braden to Daddy again then to Diego in a matter of hours....hmmmm....

Anyway, yesterday she was being just so sweet to Braden (she usually is very sweet to him) but this time it was like way over the top cute. She kept pulling him in her lap and wanting to hold him and hug him and kiss him. Here's a little reenactment of our conversation:

Alexa: I love him

Me: I know, you guys are SO cute

Alexa: We are cute, take a picture mommy (Do you think she she's used to me taking their pictures constantly?)

Me: Of course I will!

Me: Are you guys best buds?

Alexa: No, Braden is my best bud

Me: Are you Braden's best bud?

Alexa: No, I'm a girl.

Me: Oh okay, so he's just your best bud?

Alexa (after thinking about it for awhile): NO.....(thinking)....we are best FRIENDS!!

Seriously, I could have passed right out it was so cute. It just amazes me how incredibly adoring she is to him and how he puts up with her lovin on him constantly so well. How lucky are we? A friend just asked me the other day how things went for Alexa when Braden was born. We were SO blessed, from day one she has been nothing but the best big sister. Okay more like 96% of the time, of course there's always a few moments especially now that he can move around and get to her stuff.

How long do you think this could last? At least we'll have the stories and pictures to show them someday if it doesn't! :)

Scrub-A-Dub-Dub, Two Cuties in the Tub

Saturday night Braden and I were sitting in the bathroom with Matt while he gave Alexa a bath. Braden was just sitting playing in my lap for awhile, then he decided that he wanted to see what Alexa was doing. He was trying to practically jump in the tub with her to get a better look at all the toys. We figured now that he is sitting up all the time he could probably get in and play for awhile. So in he went and they had a blast splashing in the water, and Braden loved his first bath in the big tub!

Where's My Baby Boy?

I keep forgetting that Braden is very mobile now. I put him down yesterday, went and got Alexa to put her on the potty and came back and he was gone. I knew he couldn't be far but I was a little surprised that I couldn't even see him! When I left he was facing the wall where the green little hammer is at the top of this picture.

There he is....under the bed! :)
I think he actually surprised himself too.

Spring is in the Air

Beautiful yesterday?
YES.IT.WAS.
We had 52 degrees at our house, which for those of you who don't live in the frigid Midwest is HOT this time of the year! Not sure about everyone else but we are SO ready for Spring over here!
(No it's not 96 degrees in our house, the thing is just sitting in the sun.) :)

It was so nice that we went outside twice for a walk and some playing in the snow. Alexa loved throwing snowballs in the street and really loved splashing in all the puddles that were all over the place! Here's some pictures of her goofing around.

And Braden and Mommy.
He thinks being in the front pack is hilarious, seriously every time I put the kid in it he starts laughing....very cute!

Is the End Near?

The end of Mommy and Braden's 3am get togethers that is.

Monday night he slept through the night for the first time....EVER! He was one tired boy after spending the day playing at 3M's back-up daycare, so much fun he apparently just couldn't sleep at all. He couldn't even stay awake long enough to finish eating that night so off to bed by 7:00!

I woke up midnight.....sound asleep.

Again at 2:30, checked him....out.

Dozed off until about 3:30, was he seriously still sleeping?......Yup!

Next thing I knew, we woke up to Braden talking and it was almost 5:30am.

For a few minutes I had to think about if this was the first time he got up or not, and honestly I was so tired I couldn't even remember. Isn't it ironic that when babies start sleeping through the night, moms get LESS sleep....maybe it's just me, but the same thing happened with Alexa.

Anyway, after much deliberation between Matt and I we decided it was officially a full night of sleep. Which brings me to a thought I had. I have good sleeping children. They didn't start sleeping 10 hours a night the week they came home from the hospital or anything but after a month or two they were for the most part down to once a night. I have had people tell me "oh yes my baby has been sleeping through the night since he was 6 weeks." or "she always sleeps through the night, it's great." Come to find out, this "sleeping through the night" thing was bed at 11pm and up at 5am. Excuse me? I am sorry, but that is NOT sleeping through the night. Most nights Braden sleeps a good 8 hours before getting up and I still don't consider that all night. So now I always think twice before I get a little envious when people tell me their kids are sleeping through the night at half the age of mine. I know parents like to brag about their kids, hello I'm president of the club, but when it comes to lack of sleep that's just not something to mess with!

So back to Braden.....he hasn't slept the whole night again yet but he has been doing better and better. And to tell the truth there is a tiny little bit of me that gets a little sad when the night feedings go away. Don't get me wrong being able to sleep more than 4 hours at a time will be wonderful, but it's always a little sad. I'm not sure if it's more because they are growing up or if I will just miss the extra cuddle time, maybe a combination of the two.

We did decide that it is definitely time for the little guy to move upstairs to his own room, his own bed. I have been delaying this for some time now, basically I was hoping we could wait until he was sleeping through the night consistently. This is only for complete selfish reasons of course. The thought of having to get up and go all the way upstairs, feed him, get him back to bed and going back down to bed myself just seems exhausting. Most nights (okay every night) when he gets up I just pull him into bed with us and that's usually where he sleeps for the next couple hours....cuddled up with mom. But really the poor thing is just running out of room in the pack-n-play, he usually ends up smushed in the corner. So it looks like it's just time to just cave in and do it already, maybe we'll give it a shot this weekend.

Here's a couple pictures of him sitting up like a big boy....
