Baby #3 - 26 Weeks
Okay I have to start off saying that I don't want to sound like I am complaining at all, buuuut this is pretty much my main place to journal this pregnancy so I want to get it all in. Besides, Matt will need all the backup he can get once I start bugging him for another one. ;)
So where do I start...how about, I am so ready for this pregnancy to be over. Remember when I said that I loved being pregnant? Well I still do, it's definitely one of the coolest experiences a woman can have. I love the kicking and moving and knowing that a tiny little person is growing in there. It's such a miracle! (Here comes the part where it might sound like I am complaining, but for the record I'm not...just stating facts.) I am already so tired and achy...and tired...and achy. I hardly remember getting to that point with Alexa and I know it was only a month or two from the end with Braden. Is this how it works? Does it just get sooner and sooner each time?
My last appointment didn't go as great as I would have liked. I am already retaining way more water than I should be...as in, welcome to my daily life kankles. (I also had to take off my wedding ring. I just about cried. :( I can't remember ever taking it off for more than a couple minutes to have checked and cleaned.) My blood pressure is normally pretty low so even though it has gone up a little bit it's still in the good range so far. So basically I am going to start going in about every 2 weeks already so they can keep an eye on everything. I had to laugh when my doctor told me to try and get my feet up when I could. Yeah, try explaining that to my crazy children! :) Anyway, I think everything will be fine and it's reassuring to know that whatever pain or problems I am having that the baby is doing good...he/she looked wonderful, great heartbeat (144) and is moving around like crazy.
How far along: 26 weeks - starting month 7!
Size of baby: 14 inches long and 1 2/3 pounds
Weight Gain: About 19 pounds. (UGH!) I just about died when my doc told me I had gained almost 10 pounds in 1 month but then after looking at my swelling I guess I could be carrying 5-10 pounds of water weight. Thank goodness! 5-10 pounds of water will be much easier to drop than 5-10 pound of Christmas goodies. :)
Maternity Clothes: Jeans are all maternity and a few tops are too.
Gender: Boy or Girl :) Speaking of...anyone have any good names? We are open to suggestions. Not finding out the gender makes it even harder!
Movement: Lots of moving. Love it!!
Sleep: Okay here we go again. So the pelvic pain I talked about last time is in full effect. I can't move while laying down without lots of pain. I usually don't get more than a couple hours of sleep at a time and I have already spent quite a few nights sleeping reclined on the couch. I remember complaining that I couldn't get comfortable in bed at the end with Alexa and now I would love to just be able to curl up in bed like that again, boy things change!
What I miss: Sleep. Normal breathing. My ankles. Diet Coke. (Okay, I have a few sips here and there but I have been doing good!) :)
Cravings: This is really weird but I seem to want chili cheese burritos from Taco Bell. Thankfully the closest one is 15+ minutes away so I have only indulged a few times. Also, pickles! Although I could sit and eat a half of jar not pregnant so it's not like one of those "crazy pregnancy pickle" things.
Symptoms: Aches, pains, lack of sleep, back hurts, blah blah blah.
Best moment this week: Having Matt home all last week. And while I was typing this I think I might have felt hiccups for the first time! I have been waiting for that feeling, I always loved it.
What I'm looking forward to: Ummm, can I put 'having the baby' yet or is it to early? :)

I had the pelvic pain with all of my pregnancies and so did my Mom and sister. I was told that it is the pelvic bone spreading apart (only about a mm or so but that is still further than it should go), that is where the pain comes from :( I slept on my side with a pillow between my knees and then when I turned around in bed I did it very sloooooooooooowly. Also walking made it worse and walking fast or running....not happening!!!
Sorry, I know that sucks to hear but I thought it was best to tell you my experience so you have something to go by.
I hope it gets better and I hope the next 14 weeks go by super fast :) I have to say though that this pregnancy is going by really fast, didn't you just announce yesterday that you were pregnant?
I loved being pregnant too, but the pain and water would cause me to wish it over also! I hope time passes quickly.
If it's any consolation, you're so pretty!
Oh goodness, you are not complaining! Pregnancy is hard, especially when you have 2 little ones to care for as well! When I was preggers with my kids, I bought a wedge pillow that I could tuck under my tummy when I was in bed. It helped so much. My heavy belly wasn't pulling on my back and hips with the pillow stuffed under it!
You are looking great BTY!
You look great!! I gained so much water weight I gained 65 lbs total with my first and 40 with my second!! Thankfully I dropped 17 lbs right away with the first birth... and in the first weeks dropped another 20... yikes!! I had horrible pregnancies... Do take the doc serious about trying to put your feet up though... or you may end up on bed rest later!!! with water retention you are borderline pre-eclampsia(sp???) I ended up on bedrest (sorta) and my sister ended up in the hospital... b/c of the blood pressure in the last couple months!! so though it does sound funny.... let the cleaning go more, do laundry sitting down (ha ha I know) ... seriously.. sit while chopping veggies... whatever you can do sitting... sit!! =) oh.. the wedge pillow helped me too... and a roll behind your back! LOVE pregnancy!! haha! I hope and pray the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly (all things considered!) !! =)
I don't know what it is about third pregnancies. Seriously everyone I know had a rough third. Breeley was easier than Hope. - Ammo in case you get crazy and want to talk Matt into another one. :)
Hopefully new normal will come along and you will find ways to get comfy. I had horrible swelling with Hope and was not about to try and drink the gallon of water recommended in What to Expect. ;)
I can't wait to meet this new little one. Are you going with "C" names this time or are Alexa and Braden just a coincidence?
is it 26 weeks already??? time flies when I'm not the one who is pregnant ;-) Isn't it interesting the height vs size of babies at this gestational period (that's me faking medical lingo) You look great and happy as ever :-)
The dreaded kankles. i hate those things...but remember them all too well. You are too cute still tiny in my book. I gained 10 pounds in one month too with my first one...I know, gasp. It was all that mexican food. LOL For real i ate it almost every day.
laura,
first of all, i think 19 lbs at 26 weeks is great! i gained 42 with Indi and 46 with Jude. with indi, i lost 6 in the beginning, broke even around 16 weeks, then gained 42 lbs from that weight! my midwife told me i had to cut out the chocolate milk! i ate really healthy and so that was the only unhealthy thing in my diet. :/
if you are at all interested in dietary/herbal things you could do to help, i hightly, highly recommend The Natural Pregnancy Book by Aviva Romm. She was a midwife and president of the American Herbalist Guild. She recently got her MD from Yale. my pregnancy with J was hard (those kind of compliants you listed) and her suggestions made my pregnancy with Indi so enjoyable.
if you don't want to buy the book but are looking for ideas, email me over FB or something. i'd love to help if i can.
you look fabulous! try to treasure it. when you talked about hiccups, i was surprised to realize i had completely forgotten about those. :( time marches on...
much love, friend!
